The pre-nominations for the daytime soap operas have been announced. The Blue Ribbon judging begins on March 27 and ends April 22. Final nominations will be announced on May 1, when the list of pre-nominations are winnowed down to ten per category. The show is in Las Vegas on June 28. It is being broadcast on CW network.
There are only five soap operas being considered for 40th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards this year. Those include:
- One Life to Live
- The Young and the Restless
- General Hospital
- Days of our Lives
- The Bold and the Beautiful
Of course, the pre-nominations are packed with the usual suspects like Roger Howarth for Lead Actor and Kristen Alderson for Lead Actress. They transplanted their characters to “General Hospital” when “One Life to Live” ended its run in early 2012. Some other pre-nominees you probably know include:
Finola Hughes for Lead Actress (Anna Devane, “General Hospital”)
Sharon Case for Lead Actress (Sharon Newman, “The Young and the Restless”)
Maurice Benard for Lead Actor (Sonny Corinthos, “General Hospital”)
Peter Bergman Lead Actor (Jack Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”)
The full list of nominees is available on the Daytime Emmy® website.
This year’s show will honor game show host and producer Monty Hall and producer Bob Stewart. Both gentlemen will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards. Stewart won nine Daytime Emmy® Awards. He was involved with such classic game shows as “The Price is Right,” “To Tell the Truth,” “Password” and “The $10,000 Pyramid.” Hall was host of several versions of “Let’s Make a Deal,” a 79 reboot of “Beat the Clock” and “Split Second.” He is still a creative consultant on the current incarnation of “Let’s Make a Deal.” Game shows have been an integral part of daytime network programming. Many game shows have even made their way onto the prime-time schedule, like “So You Want to be a Millionaire.”
In addition to soap operas and game shows, the Daytime Emmy® Awards Show also honors talk shows like “Dr. Phil,” health shows like “The Doctors,” and cooking shows like “The Chew.” Fans of daytime television can buy tickets from VIP Award Show Tickets to attend both the Daytime Emmy® Awards Show and the after-party. All your favorite daytime stars come out at night for the Daytime Emmys®. Don’t be a lonely Cinderella. Buy tickets to the show and enjoy a night in Las Vegas.
Don’t be apart from it. Be a part of it. It only gets better when you get closer. After the show and the after-party, you’ll still have plenty of Las Vegas to investigate.
